THE IMPS AWAIT UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE DRAWS

15-06-2026

The Imps will discover their route through the opening stages of the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League this week, with the First Qualifying Round draw taking place on Tuesday and the Second Qualifying Round draw following on Wednesday at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.

As Gibraltar's sole representative, we enter the competition via the Champions Path and will aim to navigate the early qualifying rounds while building on last season's success in European competitions.

Tuesday's draw will determine our opponents in the First Qualifying Round, with ties scheduled to be played over two legs on 8/9 July and 15/16 July. Thanks to our UEFA coefficient, we will be among the seeded clubs in the draw, avoiding several of the higher-ranked champions entering at this stage. However, there will still be no shortage of challenging opponents among the unseeded teams from across Europe.

Possible First Qualifying Round opponents

  • Inter Club d'Escaldes
  • Levski Sofia
  • Ararat-Armenia
  • Sabah FK
  • Kauno Žalgiris
  • Sutjeska Nikšić
  • ETO FC Győr
  • Iberia 1999
  • Egnatia
  • Floriana
  • Tre Fiori
  • Vardar
  • ML Vitebsk
  • Atert Bissen

UEFA will release the pre-draw groups tomorrow morning, significantly narrowing the list of potential opponents ahead of the draw itself.

Should we progress from the opening round, the Imps will immediately learn their potential next challenge as UEFA conducts the Second Qualifying Round draw on Wednesday.

Second Qualifying Round ties are scheduled for 22/23 July and 29/30 July. For the first time, we will be placed in the seeded group, meaning we will avoid familiar opponents such as Red Star Belgrade, Slovan Bratislavaand Lech Poznań.

Possible Second Qualifying Round opponents

The Imps could face either:

  • AGF
  • FC Thun
  • Mjällby AIF

or the winners of ties involving:

  • Víkingur Reykjavík
  • Kairat
  • Universitatea Craiova
  • Riga FC
  • KÍ Klaksvík
  • Flora
  • Larne
  • Petrocub Hîncești
