Match Preview: SK Brann vs Lincoln
We begin our 2026/27 UEFA Conference League league phase campaign this evening as we take on Norwegian side SK Brann at the Brann Stadion in Bergen.
For the second consecutive season, we will compete in the league phase of a UEFA competition, continuing another remarkable chapter in our club's history. Following a memorable European qualifying campaign, our attention now turns to six league phase fixtures against some of the continent's established sides.
Our journey to this stage has been anything but straightforward. Having begun our European campaign in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers with victory over Inter Club d'Escaldes, we went on to face Swedish champions Mjällby AIF before dropping into the UEFA Europa League, where a narrow aggregate defeat against Cypriot side Omonia set up a decisive Conference League play-off against Larne FC.
Trailing 2-0 from the first leg in Gibraltar, we produced one of the most memorable European nights in our club's history at Inver Park. A remarkable 3-0 victory after extra time, sealed by Manuel Toledano's dramatic 120th-minute penalty, secured our place in the league phase and ensured another historic European adventure.
We head into tonight's encounter in positive spirits following a 2-0 victory over domestic rivals Europa FC last weekend. Second-half goals from Gabri Cardozo and Álvaro Romero secured all three points, providing a timely confidence boost ahead of our trip to Norway.
Our Opponents: SK Brann
Founded in 1908, SK Brann are one of Norway's most established football clubs and will provide a stern opening test for the Imps. Based in Bergen, the Norwegian side plays their home matches at the Brann Stadion and competes in the country's top division, the Eliteserien.
Brann secured their place in the league phase following an impressive European qualifying campaign, overcoming Universitatea Cluj, Apollon Limassol and Greek side PAOK on their route to this stage.
Their domestic form has been mixed in recent weeks, although a notable victory over Bodø/Glimt in September demonstrated their ability to compete against strong opposition.
Playing in front of their own supporters, the Norwegian side will be looking to make a winning start to their UEFA Conference League campaign.
A New European Challenge
Tonight's encounter will mark our first competitive meeting with SK Brann, presenting another opportunity for us to test ourselves against established European opposition.
Having gained valuable experience during last season's historic league phase campaign, we will be determined to build on those performances and demonstrate our continued development on the continental stage.
Juanma Pavón and his squad know the challenge awaiting them in Bergen, particularly against a Norwegian side accustomed to competing at a high level domestically. However, the confidence gained from our remarkable qualification against Larne, together with our recent domestic victory, provides plenty of encouragement heading into the opening fixture.
With another exciting European campaign ahead of us, our focus will be on producing a disciplined and competitive performance as we look to make a positive start to the league phase.
